After many years, 2008 saw the reintroduction of the Callington Carnival. With the Rotary Club of Callington at the helm and tremendous help from Callington Town Council, the Lions Club of Callington, Callington Young Farmers’ Club, the Callington Town Band, Prim-Raf and the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, the streets of Callington were once again awash with noise and glamour as some 20 floats and numerous walking entries paraded through the streets.
The 2017 Carnival will be held on Saturday 1st July. Entry is FREE so there are no excuses not to make an entry into the Parade. There is still plenty of time for you to seek inspiration, gather your thoughts, form a team and get to work on that germ of an idea.
If you think you might need some help in getting materials together, get in touch with the Carnival Committee on 01579 382705 and they will do their best to provide what they can.
If you wish to use a float, please contact the Carnival Committee who will be only too please to put you in touch with a farmer with a suitable trailer.
There are three basic categories: walking entries, floats and commercial vehicles. Entry for all categories is free so if you know of any business, large or small who would like to raise their profile in the community, get them to ring the number above.
If anyone has any contacts with groups who are involved with: Classic Cars, Agricultural Vehicles or Military Vehicles or any other interesting type of vehicle which would add interest to the parade, please also ring the number above.
