The Town Hall, the Council Chamber and Committee Room, with use of the kitchen or bar, are available for hire by organisations and businesses. For booking information and rates of hire contact the Town Clerk or their assistant on 01579 384039 or visit the Town Hall between 9am-2pm. Please leave a message on the answering machine if no one is available to take your call. The Town Hall Caretaker is Mr Brian Gilbert.

A large
comfortable room that can seat up to 40 people. It
can be laid out to suit your requirements.
It can
used for formal board room style meetings, training sessions, meetings of up to 40 or more people seated in rows, or completely informal for parties and other functions.
The Chamber is in a self-contained area with its own entrance, foyer, toilets and access to the kitchen.
The room has a hearing loop and can be accessed by the disabled. There is also a broadband connection in the room.

The Committee Room is a small room suitable for meetings of up to twelve people. It can be
used in conjunction with the Lounge/Bar area which has informal seating for twelve to fifteen people. Access to the Committee Room can be via the Pannier Market and is suitable for disabled.
Work will soon be underway (February 2010) to improve disabled access to this area and the room will be enlarged during the refurbishment.

The main hall has a licence to facilitate up to 280 people standing and 180 dining. There is a stage and a hatch giving access to both the kitchen and the bar, the latter can be used in conjunction with the lounge.
A stage is available with the usual spotlighting combined with full audio and vision facilities. There is easy disabled access and a hearing loop system installed.
An ideal low cost venue for wedding and anniversary receptions and birthday parties!

Refurbishment to the value of £25,000 has transformed the kitchen facilities making the two split areas in to one large semi professional kitchen that doubles up as a bar and cafe servery area.
The old lounge bar area has now been transformed into a community cafe bar area with the ability to increase in size at a moments notice depending on the clients requirements.
Facilities now include:
Commercial cooker range with extractor over.
Bain Marie with hot cupbaord underneath.
Seperate sinks for food preparation, pot wash and hand wash.
Dishwasher with a 3 to 4 minutes wash cycle.
New Bar & Cafe servery counter.
Fresh air blower linked to extractor system and gas safety isolation valve.
Seperate upright fridge & freezer.
Generous stainless steel work surface.
Serving hatch to the main hall for large events.
Servery door access direct from main hall.

Facilities to store barrels and cooling equipement for the bar.

The smaller kitchen also functions as
a small bar with the main serving hatch opening up into a small informal lounge area.
Currently the bar lounge
room can only be accessed from the Main Hall but soon it will have its own corridor access from the main reception area of the Town Hall making it fully accessible without the need to travel through the main hall. |
