Town-in-Bloom

Callington's town-in-bloom over the past couple of years has been reliant on the goodwill of volunteers, especially those of the Town Forum, due to a reduction of staff numbers following Caradon District Council's decision to withdraw half of the double-charge refund from the Council Tax. This funding was used to offset the cost of maintaining Callington's park areas and cemetery, in other towns and parishes this is usually managed by the principle authority (now Cornwall Council). In 2009 Cornwall Council also declared that they will be removing the double-charge refund in its entirity over the next financial year (2010 - 2011).

Despite this bad news improvements to Outside Services are planned for 2010 which should help improve the street scene (town-in-bloom) and rest assured we will be working in close partnership with the Town Forum and Cornwall Council to deliver any future improvements.

If you would like to volunteer your services, or sponsor a flower bed, within Callington or Kelly Bray the Town Forum would love to hear from you. You can contact the Town Forum via the Clerk at the Town Hall.
